Quick Report on Water Hearing: Something’s Happening Here
Something happened last night a bit extraordinary. The decisions on 55,000 of the 124,000 acre feet under permit applications were DELAYED until the NEXT meeting of the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District to be held in GIDDINGS, APRIL 17th. That meeting will be held at Giddings City Hall. The meeting starts at 6 pm, with the public hearing at 7 pm.
It was standing room only last night at the hearing held by the LPGCD in Bastrop. Folks from across the two counties (Lee and Bastrop) showed up, spoke intelligently, eloquently and passionately about why the LPGCD needed to stand up for landowners, residents and the aquifer.
We’ll send out a more in-depth report soon. In the meantime, you can read the 3-minute testimonies of Steve Box (Environmental Stewardship), Phil Cook (Sierra Club) and Linda Curtis (Independent Texans.) Many of these points are relevant no matter where you live in Texas. More soon!
