Independents — now 42% of America — will decide this election. In Austin — the so-called “Millennial City” — this is especially true since the majority of Millennials identify as independent.
WARNING: Guess who is trying to saddle this generation with massive debt for a
transportation scheme that does not address mobility through roads or mass transit?
$1 million has been spent promoting Prop 1, largely by the Austin real estate lobby as Mayor Steve Adler and his key staffers have led this campaign. Opponents have spent 1/10th of that amount. The unbought and unbossed Councilmember Ora Houston sounded the alarm for Prop 1’s defeat.
Independent Texans PAC has already given Prop 1 two thumbs down but its defeat requires all hands on deck! Help us spread this message: The main purpose of Prop 1 is to serve big real estate interests’ push for downtown density and high-end real estate development. Save Austin from this extravagant giveaway, harming the next generation the most and the affordability of all. NO on Prop 1!
Please do this for Austin today, tomorrow and Tuesday, Election Day!
Read and share online “The Five Reasons to Vote No on Prop 1, The Go-Big — with your money — transportation bond“. You can even do something very old fashioned. Print it. There are two per page. Take it to your neighbors and to your election poll. (Be sure to catch people outside the 100 foot marker.)
Join us at this event at noon tomorrow — Monday. Pick up fliers and some hard signs! (If you can’t make it, reply or call us for a delivery right away.)
Use the share buttons on this page to urge your friends to vote No on Prop 1 and to share it too.
Apologies for the late notice!Monday — tomorrow — rally held by Honest Transportation Solutions at City Hall (302 W. 2nd) at Noon.Come pick up a Vote No sign and our fliers from Independent Texans! Have you signed our petition yet? Please do and do share! Following this election, we hope you will join us in a unified effort to insist that Austin is Not Developers’ Monopoly Board and that the city refrain from any and all growth subsidies.
We cannot stop growth, nor should we. We can and we should stop the Growth Machine!
Thank you, Austin.

PS We would simply remind you that Austinites passed 10-1 by doing lots of things but most important was the 200,000 fliers that many of you helped get into people’s hands.
