We Texans might love the idea of cowboy ethics, but we largely don't pay much attention until something happens to really tick us off.
The Bastrop Gateway "Domain-like" Project has done just that.
Gateway is a rushed high-density multi-use development with a 12-story hotel placed across the street from the Bastrop State Park. It's at the top of the hill that is the gateway to the city of Bastrop.
Read more about this and other development wars going on in the news section of the League of Independent Voters of Texas, a nonpartisan membership association for non-aligned and independent voters. We encourage you to join LIV and get involved.
Meanwhile, Independent Texans PAC encourages you to consider your voting options in the May 4th local elections across the state. Early voting starts April 22.
The 12-floor hotel planned for Gateway (Eyesore) Bastrop is a figurative middle finger pointed directly at the City of Bastrop ... an ugly reminder to residents of the city/county that developers are their masters.
