L to R: Linda Curtis (Independent Texans PAC), Dr. Beth Klenz (candidate for TX House District 17, Democrat), Dock Jackson (candidate for Bastrop County Judge, Democrat) and Kat Hammer (candidate for Bastrop County Commissioners Court, Write-In)

The most common refrain from citizens in the wild, wild west of Bastrop County about the chaos unfolding on their land, water and ways of life is this: "No one told me." This is why we asked Dock Jackson, Kat Hammer and Dr. Beth Klenz to sign the Bastrop Open Government Pledge. It's a winner and we need these candidates to win this local election to get the Legislature to listen real hard. Read the Bastrop Open Government Pledge*

Look people. We need at least two parties. Bastrop County is ruled by all Republicans. How is that working out for us? We have a broken (actually, captured) state agency, the TCEQ, the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality. The same is true for most state agencies under the thumb of one-party rule of all statewide offices since 1992! Ready to bust Bastrop's one-party rule? All five County Commissioners (including the County Judge) are Republicans, as are our State Representative Stan Gerdes and State Senator Charles Schwertner.

This is the underlying cause of the chaos unfolding in western Bastrop County. And, when you finally find out, it's too late because the one-party rulers chose to keep you in the dark, like a mushroom! THRO: Throw the Hypocritical Rascals out, y'all!

* The Pledge was drafted by leading members of the League of Independent Voters, including an attorney with expertise in open government law.

It’s a shame that in this extremely important election you’re stealing blue votes.

I’m all pro other parties but not at the current state of the country.
