DON'T MISS THIS - BREAKING NEWS WILL TAKE PLACE!
Time:
6:00pm - 9:00pm
Description:
The Austin Art Garage is jointly sponsoring this extravaganza with live music and just a $10 donation at the door (covering two drinks!). The AAG has commissioned 25 original political art pieces by emerging local artists to auction (along with lots of other goodies from 500 local businesses who support the SDS amendment on the ballot this November). The SDS amendment will stop the City of Austin from granting retail subsidies, like the $64 million giveaway for the high-end luxury mall in NW Austin-- the Domain.
For art submissions go to http://AustinArtGarage.com/PoliticalAction
You can get tickets online at http://StopDomainSubsidies.com or at the door. Bring your checkbook!
For more information, call 512-383-8484.
Time:
10:00am - 2:00pm
Description:
Every Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., volunteers come together from across Austin, to help insure the passage of the Stop Domain Subsidies charter amendment in November. The City Council of Austin, wants to give $65 million in tax subsidies to Simon Properties, the largest mall developer in the US (probably the world!) for a high-end luxury mall in NW Austin called The Domain! SDS collected 27,000 signatures so Austin voters could put a stop to this, and other similar sweetheart deals. SDS is joined by 450 small home grown Austin businesses who are saying, 'don't fund our competition with tax dollars!"
SDS Office: 2153 S. Lamar #204, Austin, TX, 512-383-8484
a little south of Oltorf on the east side of Lamar, park in back and walk up the stairs
If you have a laptop or cell phone, bring 'em with you.
SDS has work you can also do from home!
